The exhibition Käthe Leichter. Und die Vermessung der Frauen focuses on the life and work of Käthe Leichter, one of the most influential figures in the labor movement of the First Austrian Republic. As the first head of the Women’s Department of the Chamber of Labor, she conducted detailed studies on the working and living conditions of employed women, becoming a pioneer of social research.

In addition to highlighting her scientific contributions, the exhibition also delves into her personal story—a tale of intellectual drive, love, loyalty, betrayal, and tragedy. Käthe Leichter’s call for “equal pay for equal work” remains as relevant today as it was in her time.

The exhibition is part of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Women’s Department of the Chamber of Labor and the 130th birthday of Käthe Leichter.
