The Conference Situated Conservation will honour Ms. Fatima Fall Niang, ex-Director of the CRDS, a specialist in preventive conservation, and a UNESCO expert-referent for intangible heritage since 2018. She also served as a member of ICOM and led its national committee for two consecutive terms, the international conference on ‘Situated Conservation’ will be held in Saint Louis, Senegal, from January 23 to 25, 2025.
This international event is a tribute to her unwavering dedication and commitment to the conservation of cultural heritage, particularly museum collections in Senegal and across Africa. In this program, we take as a starting point the idea that conservation is always situated, and never universal.
