In Conversation with Our Guests from Mexico: A Discussion on the Penacho Replica

On Tuesday, 12 November, doctoral students from the Chair of Cultural Heritage, together with their supervisor Noémie Etienne, had the opportunity to engage in an enriching discussion with Mr. Barrera Reyes Carlos, artist-doctor at the University of Mexico, and Mrs. Olvido Moreno Guzman Maria, curator and lecturer at the University of Mexico.

The focus of the conversation was the replica of the iconic Penacho of Moctezuma, currently being created in collaboration with the Weltmuseum Wien, where the original artifact is conserved. The students posed a range of insightful questions covering technical, economic, social, and cultural aspects related to the replica, offering a unique chance to gain deeper insight into this complex and fascinating project.

We are hopeful that this moment of reflection will continue once the replica is completed, sparking further discussions. We wish our guests a safe and successful return to Mexico and look forward to future opportunities for collaboration.
