Ruby Satele Asiata is a Sāmoan-New Zealander from Ōtautahi Christchurch, Aotearoa with ancestral ties to Lalovi, Vaito’omuli, Saipipi, Vailoa in Sāmoa and American Sāmoa. She holds a BA in Anthropology from the University Otago (2011), and a PGDip and MA in Museum Studies from the University of Auckland (2018). She has over 9 years of experience working with Pacific cultural heritage, including 7 years at Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum. Her experience spans from collection and information management to community engagement, and repatriation of human remains.
