Noémie Étienne

FULL PROFESSOR OF CULTURAL HERITAGE AND ART HISTORY | University of Vienna

In 2023, Noémie Étienne was awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant for her project titled Global Conservation: Histories and Theories (16th-21st Century). Before joining the University of Vienna, she served as an SNF Professor of art history at the University of Bern, where she led a research project focusing on the portrayal of the exotic in Europe from 1600 to 1800. Her expertise lies in heritage and museum studies. Additionally, she is a founding editor of Journal18. In addition to her research activities, she teaches at the Institute of Art History.
